Cotton Bureau
Cotton Bureau is a Pittsburgh based apparel company that prints and sells t-shirts and sweatshirts from a variety of designers who submit their work to them. Each submitted design must be approved by Cotton Bureau before it is available for on-demand printing. This design is an illustration loosely based off of my dutch shepherd as well as a hand drawn organic pattern.
Cotton Bureau
This furry three horned beast is just one of many monsters I’ve drawn in my sketchbook. I rebuilt him digitally and submitted the design to Cotton Bureau which was approved and printed on shirts for adult and child sizes.
Cotton Bureau
My most recent Cotton Bureau submission, another sketchbook doodle I brought to life using Adobe Illustrator and only two colors plus some half-tone line shading to add the illusion of a third color.
The Molotov Gallery
A boutique art gallery in downtown San Diego, I participated in their first art show with a punk and underground rock n’ roll theme. My t-shirt design was one of three hand screen printed and sold at the opening. The design is supposed to represent a guitar headstock similar to a Gibson Les Paul Junior. The Les Paul Junior was played by a lot of early punk bands like the Clash and the New York Dolls. I designed and illustrated it from sketch to completion including the typography.
Check Raised
A punk band with a love for Texas Hold’em Poker asked me to design a t-shirt to sell at their shows. I wanted to illustrate a concept that played on their poker theme. Starting with the idea of poker which lead my mind down a rabbit hole to the idea of an old west poker game with a revolver. Instead of an actual gun, it’s a prank gun with a “BANG” flag popping out of the barrel to add humor to it replacing “BANG” with the band’s name. I illustrated the graphic and typography to be an homage to Raymond Pettibon, the illustrator for several Black Flag and Sonic Youth record covers and flyers to give it that hardcore punk edge.
